(USA-SC-CHARLESTON) Software Test Engineer

Title: Software Test Engineer Location: USA-SC: SOUTH CAROLINA-CHARLESTON Job Number: 1300BYD CSC, in support of a Veteran's Affairs project located in Charleston, SC has immediate requirements for Test Engineers to support the Applications Testing Support Services project. Must possess experience developing test functions and analyzing metrics for web based software programs. MUST be able to obtain and maintain a sponsor required clearance (either a DoD Secret Clearance and /or a VA IT 1) Essential Job Functions * Develops tests and analyzes metrics for web based software programs for Veteran Affairs. * Performs systems functional and regression testing on sponsor applications (such as; VA-Online Certification of Enrollment (VA-ONCE), Loan Guaranty (LGY), Burial Operations Support Systems (BOSS). * Utilizes IBM Rational tool sets for test case development, execution and metric reporting. * Develops and executes test cases, test scripts as well as create test report documentation of tested systems required. * Participants in sprints, team meetings, test planning, lessons learned, document analysis, and metrics reporting. * Provides feedback and reports to management on the status and availability of software and hardware to ensure proper functioning. * Works with customer(s) to complete the testing process as necessary. * Contributes to test planning, scheduling, and managing test resources; leads formal test execution phases on larger projects. * Defines test cases and creates integration and system test scripts and configuration test questionnaires from functional requirement documents. * Executes functional tests and authors significant revisions to test materials as necessary through the dry run and official test phases. Maintains defect reports and updates reports following regression testing. * Adheres to and advocates use of established quality methodology and escalates issues as appropriate. * Understands the functional design of software products / suites being tested and their underlying technologies to facilitate authoring testware, diagnosing system issues, and ensuring that tests accurately address required business functionality. Clarifies ambiguous areas with technical teams. * Applies basic industry and functional area knowledge related to the software product being tested and applicable regulatory statutes to determine whether system components meet business specifications. * Develops specified testing deliverables over the lifecycle of the project. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, engineering, management information systems, or computer science, or related field preferred * Three or more years of software testing experience * Experience working with developing test ware from functional design documents and executing test ware against a schedule and in compliance with a methodology * Experience working with configuration management, defect tracking, query tools, software productivity tools, and templates used to create test scripts, trace matrices, etc. * Experience working with software product testing and applicable regulatory statutes Other Qualifications * Good organization and time management skills * Analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of software * Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members * Communication skills to interact with team members and support personnel * MUST be able to obtain and maintain a sponsor required clearance (either a DoD Secret Clearance and /or a VA IT 1).
